1997-1999 Small and large animal clinic in Elvas, Portugal

February 1999-2001 School of Veterinary Medicine, Évora University. Working with Prof. Victor Caeiro in Veterinary Parasitology.

Since 2001 Assistant at Évora University, teaching Veterinary Parasitology and Parasitological diseases in the course of Veterinary Medicine.

EXPERIENCE IN VETERINARY PARASITOLOGY

Course on “Immunity and Parasitism” Teaching Department of Gulbenkian Institute of Science, Oeiras, Lisboa, 12th to 16th of July 1999.

Almost 8 years of work at the laboratory of Parasitology Professor Victor Caeiro at Évora University. During this period, besides the experience in veterinary diagnosis, followed the courses:

XV Pos- graduation course in Medical Parasitology at the Institute of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, New University of Lisbon, Portugal. 95 hours. 27th April to 31st of July 2000.

Training Post with Doutor Varda Shkap, at Division of Parasitology, Kimron Veterinary Institute, Bet Dagan, Tel-Aviv, Israel. 1st to 30 of November 2002.

WORKSHOP “Establishment of tick-colonies and tissue cell cultures for the immunization against tropical theileriosis”. Organized by Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Institut of Higyene and Tropical Medicine and Institute of Experimental Biology and Technology and Gulbenkian Institute of Science, Lisbon. 31st of March to 10th of April 2003.

As Member of COST Action 854 “Protozoal Reproduction Losses in Farm Ruminants” had a Short term Scientific Mission at the Institute of Parasitology, University of Bern, Switzerland, 6th of September to 1st of October 2004.

Under a ”Hans-Sigrist”-Foundation” Grant developed aplied research on the study of Besnoitia besnoiti at the Institute of Parasitology, University of Bern, Switzerland, 1st to 29th of October 2004.

Two moths residency at the Institute of Parasitology, University of Bern, Switzerland , for the reseach on Besnoitia besnoiti. 17th of May to 15 of July 2005.

Diagnostic workshop on protozoal abortions (2006) in farm ruminants. COST 854 Workshop. Faculty of Veterinary Sciences, Complutense University of Madrid, Spain, 14th to 16thJune

PRESENT INVOLVEMENT IN VETERINARY PARASITOLOGY

At the present I am involved in teaching Parasitological diseases in the course of Veterinary Medicine at Évora University. I am doing parasitological diagnosis at the Laboratory of Parasitology Professor Victor Caeiro at Évora University and researching on Besnoitia besnoiti and Echinococcus granulosus.

Member of the Portuguese Society of Veterinary Sciences since 1999.

Member of the Portuguese Society of Parasitology since 1999.

Member of the Portuguese Society of Hidatidosis since Outubro de 2000.

Member of the “Fighting group against Hidatidosis from Elvas Human Hospital and Alandroal” since December 2000.

Vowel of the Portuguese Society of Hidatidosis since 25th of September 2005.

Portuguese management committee member of COST Action 854: “Protozoal reproduction losses in farm ruminants”

Portuguese management committee member of COST Action 857: “Apicomplexan biology in the post-genomic era”
